How to connect a QR scanner to computer

    For those who are new to Barcode Scanners, many people don't know how to connect a barcode scanner (barcode scanner gun) to a computer. In fact, it is very simple.

    2D Handheld Scanners are roughly divided into two types: wired handheld scanners and wireless handheld scanners.

    Wired handheld scanners are the most common, usually with USB, RS232 serial ports, and rarely used PS/2 interfaces.

    USB interface:

    1) Find the data cable of the barcode scanner (usually one end is connected to the barcode scanner, and the other end is a USB-A port.

    2) Plug the USB-A interface of the barcode scanner data cable directly into an available USB port on the computer.

    3) Wait for recognition (usually completed automatically). Most modern barcode scanners work in "keyboard emulation mode" (HID Keyboard Emulation) by default. The computer will recognize it as an additional keyboard device. The operating system (Windows, macOS, Linux, etc.) usually automatically loads the universal driver without manual installation.

    4) Test. Open a window where you can enter text (such as Notepad, Word, browser address bar or search box). Use the barcode scanner to scan a valid barcode or QR code. The scanned data (numbers, letters, etc.) should appear directly at the cursor position like keyboard input.

    The RS232 interface usually has a DB9 port and a USB port. The DB9 is a data transmission port and the USB is a power supply port, so both interfaces must be connected to the computer. However, the manufacturer usually needs to provide a driver. The test needs to be performed in the serial port tool (the serial port tool needs to set the baud rate, check bit and other parameters, and the parameters of each brand of scanner may be different). Data cannot be transmitted in the regular text input window.

    The USB-COM interface is a USBD port, but it is indeed a virtual serial port, so the test must also be tested in the serial port tool. Usually, it can be switched to USB keyboard mode or USB virtual serial port mode by scanning the configuration.

    2D wireless scanners can be divided into Bluetooth, 433MHz, 2.4G, etc., but they all come with a USB receiver. Wireless barcode scanners usually have a battery inside, so make sure the device is fully charged and can work properly before connecting to the device.

    1) Prepare a fully charged barcode scanner and a small USB receiver (usually smaller than a USB flash drive, a bit similar);

    2) Insert the USB receiver into the USB port of the computer.

    3) Pair (usually automatically connect or you need to press the pairing button on the scanner body). Most wireless barcode scanners are paired with the matching receiver at the factory and can be used immediately after being inserted. If it does not connect automatically, you may need to press the pairing button on the barcode scanner (please refer to the manual for specific operations), and sometimes you also need to perform a simple pairing operation on the computer.

    4) The test method is the same as the USB wired barcode scanner test steps, and the code content can be directly transferred to the text input box.

    Bluetooth connection to mobile phones, computers and other devices.

    1) Turn on the device Bluetooth.

    2) Enter pairing mode. Long press the Bluetooth pairing button on the barcode scanner (usually a few seconds, until the indicator light flashes in a specific pattern, please refer to the manual).

    3) Add a Bluetooth barcode scanner to the device, taking a mobile phone as an example. Open the phone settings - Bluetooth - find the name of the Bluetooth scanner in the Bluetooth list (usually model, brand, etc.) - click the device to pair with Bluetooth (sometimes you may need to enter a simple pairing code)

    4) Test.
